- She is an associate professor of medicine/dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles and chief of dermatology at the Great Los Angeles Healthcare System Veterans Affairs.

- She received her M.D. and Ph.D. in immunology from UCLA and also completed her dermatology residency and Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship there

- She has been a UCLA faculty member since 2000 where she serves as referral source for patients requiring rejuvenation for aging skin and also for patients with skin cancers.

- She is also a renowned scientist and her research is funded by the National Institutes of Health.

- She studies skin as an immune organ, focusing on the innate immune responses in dermatologic diseases, including acne, superficial skin infections, skin cancers and aging.
